who we are

The Daisho Art Collective has a mission to use the transformative power of art to shed light on mental health and creating resilient, empathetic communities. We champion artists who translate personal and universal experiences of the mind into visual narratives, creating a space for dialogue, healing, and connection.

what is a daisho?

  • a daisho is the artistic practice, the paired swords of the samurai, representing a harmony of skill, discipline, and philosophy.

  • the katana: the long sword, is the primary craft. this is the blade of bold, decisive expression, honed through relentless practice and discipline. it represents the mastery of a specific medium, wielded to make a powerful and clear statement that defines the work's vision and impact.

  • the wakizashi: the companion sword, representing the foundational and supporting skills. this is the blade of intimate detail, versatility, and close quarters precision. encompassing everything from drawing and composition to conceptual research and fluency. it is the quiet, essential work that gives the katana its strength and esnures every strike is true.
